Well, I have talked a ton about the movies I have been watching this month, but I haven’t talked enough about the TV shows I have been enjoying! As much as I love movies, sometimes I don’t have the focus to sit for two hours and watch an entire movie. My mind starts to wander and I start looking at my phone rather than the film. Don’t get me wrong, I do love me a good movie, but I am not always in the mood for them.

Creators have developed some incredible storytelling on TV. It is incredible what this form of entertainment has turned into, entire worlds being created in forty-minute episodes that air once a week.

I am such a mood watcher when it comes to TV. Sometimes I want to mindlessly watch a comedy, and other times I want to get lost in an entirely new world. These days, I have been in the mood for all the dark, spooky, and weird stories I can find. Netflix has offered me so many unique and interesting stories, all of the shows on this list will be available on that platform!

1. Stranger Things

When this show first came out, I honestly didn’t really feel like watching it because it was so popular. I know it is horrible, but sometimes I avoid books and TV shows because I am afraid it is not going to live up to the hype.

But boy am I glad that I ended up watching it. This story is full of so much joy and love and spook! I love all the characters, except Billy of course. I am so thrilled for season 4, I am so curious how the story is going to continue. I think I am in need of a reread!

2. The Haunting of Hill House

I am actually reading this book right now and I am really enjoying it! Did you know this TV series is based on a book by the same name, written by Shirley Jackson? You can find other movies and TV series based on books by reading my post here!

This TV series is sufficiently spooky, and perfect for October. I think this will be my next show after I finish my current watch. I would love to compare the book to the TV show!

3. The Bates Motel

Oh, this show is so dark and twisted and creepy. If you are in the mood for a story so messed up but incredibly interesting and unique, then check out The Bates Motel.

This TV show is honestly one of my favorites, despite how messed up it is. I can’t wait to finish the final season, which is what I am currently watching.

4. American Horror Story

This is such a unique format for a show. I am sure you all know, but each season is a completely different story with new characters, but many of the same actors. I love how perfect this show is for October.

I also love that I can randomly watch one season and I don’t have to commit to a ton of episodes. I can throw a little spook into my daily TV watching. The actors in this series are also incredible, and I love how they can completely embody entirely new characters each season. I imagine this is a really fun project to work on.

5. Supernatural

I mean, of course this show is perfect for October and the Halloween season. This show is full of horror creatures and spirits. This is definitely a large commitment of a show, and I usually take a break every couple of seasons, but I love watching this show during this time of year.

6. Black Mirror

I mean, if you are in the mood to be spooked, psychologically, this is the show. You will sit there thinking about your life, scared for what the world is turning into, and so much more. This is basically a modern version of The Twilight Zone.

Spooky TV Series I Want to Watch

I also have a ton of spooky shows that I haven’t watched yet, but I want to. I plan to watch these shows before the end of October, even though that is most likely impossible. Especially with all the rewatches I want to do of the shows on this list!

1. The Haunting of Bly Manor

I don’t actually know a lot about this show other than it is spooky and it is connected to The Haunting of Hill House in some way. I have seen mixed reviews of this show on Twitter, but I am excited to see how it goes.

2. Rathched

I was recommended this show from a friend of mine! I love Sarah Paulson and I am excited to see her in this role. I have never actually seen One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, but I am interested in learning more about the story.

3. The Umbrella Academy

This is another TV series I don’t know a lot about but I think it is a weird type of show that would be good for Halloween

I have a day off coming in a few days, so I will definitely be dedicating that day to some spooky TV watching!

Let me know in the comments below what your favorite spooky TV series is! I am always looking for more recommendations.
