Fall is definitely going to look a little bit different this year. There is going to be less apple-picking and fewer hayrides at the pumpkin patch. A lot of these things are staples for autumnal celebrations. But change can be a good thing. Fall is the time for a change. The leaves change, and so can our celebrations.

I know it is a hard year to embrace this change, since the world has felt like it has been changing constantly since March. Don’t be too hard on yourself if you are finding it difficult. I am too. For me, I am just trying to find the joy in the consistency of fall. The pumpkin decorations, and the activities I know I can enjoy while keeping myself and others safe.

There are still so many fun things we can do to celebrate fall. You might actually find something you really enjoy. Trust me, I am not a fan of change. This entire year has been really difficult, but it is important to learn to adapt to what is thrown at us. If not, we will just get stuck in cycles, and we won’t be able to find joy in life!

1. Scary Movie Marathon

This has always been a staple of my autumn seasons. Every single year I will find a day, get a ton of snacks, and watch as many horror movies as I can before I end up falling asleep. This year, I will be working the night of Halloween, so I am going to have to pick a different day to have my marathon. But it is going to be just as fun and just as spooky. I will have to get myself a Pumpkin Creme Cold Brew from Starbucks so I can stay up to watch as many movies as I can.

2. Bake all the Pumpkin Recipes

I am not much of a baker, but there is something about this time of year that makes me want to eat all the sweet, buttery, flaky goodies. I am already compiling a list of pumpkin recipes I find around the internet. Pumpkin pastries, pumpkin iced coffee, anything.

3. Create some Autumnal Crafts

I love to craft and work on DIY projects. It is so relaxing, and I love letting my creativity flow! I am so looking forward to setting some time aside this season to let myself do just this. I am planning on crocheting, sewing, and much more. Click here to see some of the bookish projects I did last October! Also, tomorrow’s post will include a list of FIFTY fun fall craft ideas! Hopefully, that will spark some of your creativity.

4. Read some Horror Novels

What better way to spend those spooky October nights, then to curl up in bed with a terrifying book. I can’t wait to light a pumpkin scented candle and get all the chills at the ghosts and killers. This year is actually the first time I have read a horror novel, despite all the years I have loved both horror and reading! I can’t wait to dive further into this genre.

5. Burn a Pumpkin Candle

I have already loaded up on all my fall scented candles this year. I have bought 5 candles! I am a little obsessed, but I am ready for my entire home to smell amazing. There is nothing like a pumpkin or apple scented candle this time of year. Honestly, I wish I could burn them all year long.

6. Carve a Pumpkin

This is something I love to do every year. There is just something so joyous and childlike pulling all of the pulp out of the pumpkin. It feels like worms! Bonus, you can lay those pumpkin seeds on a pan with some cinnamon and sugar and bake for a delicious snack! I just need to figure out what my design will be!

7. Walk my dog

Yes, this one is technically leaving the house, but I don’t go very far. But I am so excited to walk around the neighborhood, looking at all the fall decorations up on my neighbor’s houses. I think both me and my dog are equally excited about this.

8. Decorate my room

Decorating is a whole event for me, including a lot of the things I mention above. Candle, fall movie, and something pumpkin flavored. I put all my pumpkins up and spread some leaves around. It is one of my favorite nights of the season

9. Save Money for the Holidays

This may seem like a weird thing to add to my bucket list, but this is usually the time of year that I spend the most money. I get so wrapped up in wanting every single pumpkin I see. Trust me… I have a little bit of a pumpkin obsession. So this year I am hoping to save my money during the fall season so I can use it for gifts and myself during the holiday season. this holiday season may look a little bit different this year, but I still want to make the most out of it. Staying home this year may actually help with this goal!

I did a no-spend month in September, so I am primed and ready to do the same in October. Check here for my experience with it!

10. Grow a Thanksgiving Cactus

You know how much I love houseplants. I wrote this post on how I take care of all my succulent plant babies. One plant on my very long and evergrowing wishlist is a thanksgiving cactus. Every year I plan on getting one and I never do. So this year is going to be the year! I think they are beautiful plants, and I can’t wait to see it bloom during the fall season! Obviously, this doesn’t fall into the no-spending goal, but as I said in my post, nobody is perfect!

Although fall looks a little different this year, I am determined to make it as joyous and as festive as possible. I can’t go apple picking, but I will be making some apple recipes. I can’t go to the pumpkin patch but I will pick a pumpkin from the grocery store and carve it with a beautiful and unique design.

There are so many Autumnal things you can do to make these months wonderful! Let me know down below what are some of the things on your fall bucket list!
