As fall is the best season of the year, it also has the best themed activities. I love to celebrate the season by going to a pumpkin patch or bobbing for apples because it allows me to stay present in the moment, and enjoy the world around me. So if you are looking for some fall date ideas, or activities to do during the Autumn season, look no further.

This list is for everyone. If you are in a relationship, alone, or need something to do with your best friend, this list is for you. As I’ve mentioned, I’m an introvert. So my favorite activities are activities I can do alone. So sometimes I will take myself on a date. Buy me some dinner and go to a movie. Have a little me time.

I love everything that fall has to offer when it comes to activities. The cool weather makes me want to bundle up, eat good food, and enjoy good company.

Full transparency here, I have never actually been on a date. But I have watched a ton of Hallmark movies and read a few romance novels, so I consider myself a little bit of an expert when it comes to romance. (For all intents and purposes, this is a joke.)

Why Should You go on Seasonal Dates?

Dates are super important for a relationship. When you are trying to connect with a person, spending time with them should be the number 1 priority.

It is also super important to stay present in the moment. With everything going on in the world, it is super easy to get distracted by the news and the stressors that everyday life brings. But being present with yourself and the people you spend time with will benefit your mental well-being.

So, when you mix all of this together, you get the need and desire for seasonal dates. On these dates, you are present in that moment with your partner, enjoying what the season has to offer.

Fall Date Ideas

1. Visit a Pumpkin Patch

This one has to be number one on the list because it’s the classic fall activity. A fun fall date idea would involve going to the pumpkin patch, taking adorable pictures with all the pumpkins, then going home with your very own pumpkin. It’s all about the aesthetic, am I right?

2. Carve a Jack-o-Lantern

To tag onto fall date idea #1, you can take that pumpkin home with you from the pumpkin patch and carve a spooky face on it. Or, you can stop by your local grocery store and find a pumpkin perfect for carving. Carve that pumpkin then use the seeds to make a delicious snack! Have you ever tried roasted pumpkin seeds? They are delicious with some cinnamon and sugar on top.

3. Do Some Fall Crafts

If it’s a little too cold outside, stay in and get your DIY on! Stop by your local craft store and pick up something you never thought you would try. Or peruse Pinterest to find something unique and Autumnal. This is a great way to spend time with your partner while also getting some creativity in.

4. Apple Picking

Another classic fall date idea, find an apple orchard near you and live out your Hallmark movie dreams. This is another great place to take aesthetic fall pictures as well. Bring a full basket of apples home, there is nothing better than fresh-picked apples in the fall.

5. Bake some Pie, or other Autumnal Treats

Now that you have some pumpkins from the pumpkin patch or apples from the apple orchard, what are you supposed to do with them? You make apple and pumpkin pie of course. I love baking with people. It is so fun, and you can pawn all the hard work off on your partner! Lookup a recipe for a treat you have never tried before! Or make something you know you love.

6. Cook an Autumnal Dinner Together

Just like baking, cooking can be a fun and relaxing activity to do with your partner, and it gives you a lot of time to talk and bond. Bonus, you get to enjoy the yummy food you made after! So head to the grocery store, pick up some fun ingredients for pumpkin soup or eggplant parmesan, and get to cooking! This is another instance where Pinterest will be a huge help. So many ideas on that site!

7. Halloween Movie Night

Whether it is scary movies, slasher movies, or kid movies, there are so many Halloween-themed movies you can watch on a fall date. Grab some Autumnal snacks, or some simple popcorn and candy, and cuddle up for a fun night in. I would suggest candy corn as a snack, but I know a lot of people don’t like it.

8. Fall Home Decor Shopping

There is nothing like grabbing an Autumnal coffee drink and walking around T.J. Max or HomeGoods, searching for the perfect fall home decor. Or if you have some local home goods stores around you, check out what they have to offer! Even if you only window shop, walking around a store gives you and your partner enough time to talk, while still enjoying what the season has to offer.

9. Go for a Hike

During the Summer, it can get way too hot to spend any time outside. But with fall comes cooler weather, so it is the perfect time to enjoy nature! During Autumn, leaves are changing, and the world around us is going through a metamorphosis. So take some time to enjoy it by going on a hike in a local nature reserve or park.

10. Board Game Night

This is definitely my favorite activity on this list. Board Games are a fantastic way to connect with a person while having a little bit of fun. On those rainy nights when you don’t feel like leaving the house, pull out a few two-player board games and get competitive! Or make it a double date and invite some friends over to enjoy the fun.

11. Visit a Haunted House

Nothing will get you and your partner closer than creepy ghosts and spooky monsters jumping out at you. It is officially the second half of October which makes it haunted house season. Research locally to see what is happening around you. Or, maybe try to find a real haunted house and go ghost hunting! But don’t trespass or anything.

12. Go to a Museum

Fall gives me all the dark academia vibes, so all I want to do is live out my dreams of being a professor at a college by going to a museum. Museums are also just super interesting. There is bound to be some sort of exhibit around you, so research what is happening locally and go learn something.

13. Go to an Art Exhibit

In the same vein as going to a museum, look into if there are any local art exhibits happening. You can wear a scarf and some glasses and pretend like you are an art critic, Write down all your thoughts on the art pieces and recap with your partner once you have left. Be respectful, you never know if the artist is standing next to you.

14. Have a Reading Date

This one might just be a personal fantasy, but this would be my ideal date. Drive to a local bookstore, browse the shelves until you come to a consensus on what book both of you want to read, buy it, head to a nearby coffee shop, and start reading. Pause every couple of chapters and discuss your thoughts. Enjoy the coffee and maybe a pumpkin-flavored pastry. Add some Halloween spice to the mix by making the book scary!

15. Go to a Music Store

I talked about autumnal music in this post, but I love theming my music to the season. I also love discovering new artists. So take your partner to a music store and separate. I know, dates are supposed to involve spending time together but trust me. Once you separate, spend time choosing an album you think your partner would enjoy. Try to pick something they would never pick for themselves. Then regroup, find a quiet place, and listen to both albums, taking and enjoying each other’s company throughout the process.

(If you don’t have a music store near you, you can do this using Spotify or Apple Music)

16. Do a Photoshoot

I mentioned this in the pumpkin patch date, and the apple picking date, but it is so fun to pick an Autumnal place and go do a photo shoot. Everytime I do this with people I’m comfortable with, I end up laughing so hard I can’t even pose for the photo. It is so fun and a great way to get comfortable with a person.

17. Go Geocaching

I have never actually done this, so I can only imagine how fun this would be, but think of how interesting and exciting it would be to go around your town, searching for coordinates and finding hidden treasure. Make it a whole day by eating dinner together afterward to refuel from all your adventuring.

18. Take an Art Class

A lot of community centers and stores have popped up in the past couple of years with those adult art classes, where you follow along as an instructor teaches you how to paint. These can be so fun, and a fantastic fall date idea for a chilly night.

19. Dress up in Formal Attire and get Some Fast Food

This one isn’t exactly original, but it is a lot of fun. Showing up to Taco Bell in formal attire is like attending your very own party that only you and your partner or friends are invited to. Take your fast food to go and eat it in a park, or sitting in a remote parking lot as the sun sets around you. The best conversations happen in situations like this.

20. Go See a Performance

Whether it is a ballet or a musical, going to see a performance is another fantastic reason to get dressed up together. Go see something neither of you has seen and discuss your thoughts after it is finished. Or show your partner something you love. This is an easy and fun way to get out of the cold and enjoy each other’s company.

These are some of my favorite activities to do, whether it is as a fall date or with my best friends. There are so many seasonal activities you can enjoy with others, or yourself. It is a great way to enjoy the company of others while also enjoying the season around you.

I’m looking forward to some movie nights and board game nights with my friends and family. I love to stay in, so anything I can do in my pajamas is a plus.

Let me know in the comments below what fall date ideas you have! I would love to continue the conversation in the comments!
