At the beginning of each year, it is customary to make goals for the next twelve months. We make “New Year’s Resolutions” that we would like to accomplish before the end of December. I don’t normally make this an official thing. I set goals for myself throughout the year, so I never thought it was necessary to do it at the beginning of each year. But, I do see how helpful and important the goals can be. Maybe I will set some for myself this coming year!

But, now that we are finally at the end of October, it is nearing the end of the year. This year has definitely not been ideal, but I still want something good to come out of it, so I am hoping to accomplish a few goals before 2021 begins.

I have been keeping myself incredibly busy lately. You know, the busy that doesn’t allow your brain to wander to things that are upsetting or stressful. In an attempt to continue distracting myself, I hope to dedicate myself to these goals for the next two months.

1. Continue blogging once a week

I have been blogging on my first blog, Bookish Coffee Blog, for almost five years now. There were times when I would go months without posting, and I want to avoid that, especially with this new blog. I have recently been doing really well at blogging once a week on both that blog and this blog and I would love to continue that through the rest of this year and into the next. Consistency is key!

2. Read 17 Books

I set myself the goal of reading 50 books throughout the year of 2020, and so far I have only read 33. 17 books is definitely a lot, but I am planning on throwing some audiobooks and graphic novels in there, so I think I will accomplish this. I am pretty determined to finish the year out with 50 reads, so I will be choosing reading over watching TV more over the next couple of months.

3. Clean out my closet

Over the past year, my closet has become a little bit of a dumping ground for all my stuff. So, at some point over the next couple of months, I want to go through and clean and organize. It will make me feel so much better.

4. Work on some crochet projects

I have not been doing the things I love lately. I have been so busy with everything else, I haven’t taken the time to do the hobbies that make me happy. And I even wrote a whole blog post about it, here! So, I am going to focus on doing some crochet in my free time. Maybe even while listening to some audiobooks.

5. Take some virtual ballet classes

I am a dancer, but I have taken almost a year off! I took a break after I graduated from my college dance program, and then the world went a little haywire. So, I want to start getting back to it with some virtual classes. I know I can’t go back to in-person classes just yet, with how out of shape I am… and the pandemic.

6. Take my dog on more walks

I love love love taking my dogs on walks. It has to be one of my favorite activities. So, as the air gets cooler, I would love to get out more and enjoy the breeze and time with my babies. With a mask of course.

7. Work on my writing

Along with writing this blog, I also love writing fiction. I would love to finish my current “Work-in-Project” and start revising it. One of my big goals for my life is to become a published author, so dedicating time to my writing will help me achieve that. All goals have to start somewhere! Small goals lead to the success of bigger goals.

8. Learn to let things go

This one is going to be so important for my mental well being. I have been holding on to things so deeply lately, and it has caused me to be really really unhappy. So, for the next couple of months I would like to work on me, and my brain, so that I can go into 2021 with a light heart. Because I don’t want to hold any heaviness in me anymore.

9. Continue saving money

If you remember, in September I did “No Spend September.” You can see how I did here! Well, all through October I decided to do the same thing, and I have been so successful! I have only spent money on unnecessary and miscellaneous things once this month! So, in hopes of saving money for my future, I am planning on doing the same through November and December. I am not going to be perfect by any means, but every penny I save will go towards my life, and that is all I want to focus on right now.

10. Work on my instagrams

I run both an Instagram for this blog and a bookstagram. I have so much fun on that platform, but I know I don’t post there nearly enough. I also know that spending time building this platform will help with my blog as well. So, throughout the next two months, I am going to work on building that platform and work on the quality and consistency of my posting.

book pages, leaves, and a small white pumpkin

Two months doesn’t sound like a long time right now, but I know if I focus I can get some things done. Some of these things are for my blog, others are for my mental well-being. But they are all equally important to me and I am determined to focus on these things.

What do you hope to accomplish before the end of the year? Let me know in the comments below!
