I know, I literally just did The Autumn Tag on my blog just under a week ago! And I have been talking about my favorite month here since the very beginning of October. But let’s be honest, I can never get enough of talking about the lush, colorful, and beautiful season that is Autumn.

Plus, I have been tagged in my very first tag! Well, I have been tagged in many tags over on my other blog, Bookish Coffee Blog, but this was the first one for this blog and I couldn’t be more excited. I was tagged by Demi Le Huray to do this Hallotober tag. Thank you so much! Definitely check out their blog, where they write about lifestyle and mental health, and I have been loving how helpful and interesting all their blog posts have been!

Anyway, these questions are different from the other tag I did, so hopefully, you aren’t too bored! But even if you are, I had fun answering these, and that is what is most important. It is my blog anyway.

Rules

  1. Thank the person who tagged you and link them
  2. Put the rules at the beginning
  3. Answer all 13 questions
  4. Delete question 13 and put one of your own

1. Halloween or Chirstmas?

decoration pumpkins of various sizes and colors

Gosh, this question is so difficult, because both of these are my favorite times of year. If you asked me five years ago, I would have definitely said Christmas. I love the lights, warmth, and decorations.

But recently, I have realized how amazing and spooky Halloween can be. I love planning entire days where I spend all my time doing everything Halloween related. I am an introvert and a homebody, so this is usually alone, which is just perfect for me. I am excited to see what I come up with this Halloween, and what spooky movies I decide to watch.

2. What’s your favorite thing about October?

The cooler weather! I absolutely hate summer because of the heat. sweating is one of my least favorite activities. So, when cooler weather starts to come, usually at the end of October where I live, I am thrilled. It means I can finally wear sweaters comfortably, and I can curl in blankets while I watch movies. Cooler weather makes everything better.

3. Are you a big celebrator of Halloween?

Absolutely! Like I said, I love making a day of Halloween, by consuming all the spooky stories I can find and eating candy corn and any other cliche I can think of in regards to Halloween.

I sometimes even carve pumpkins, but I don’t think I will be doing that this year due to time restraints and laziness, LOL!

4. What’s your favorite horror movie?

My favorite is definitely The Conjuring. I was absolutely spooked the first time I watched it, and now I make sure I watch it every year. If you have read a couple of the horror film reviews I have written on my blog, like this one and this one, you know that I love paranormal stories. I love the trope of a haunted house and how it affects the family that is living there.

Come to think of it, this movie is probably where I started loving them, and I have never found another movie that was quite as good or scary. Any suggestions?

5. Would you rather a cozy night in watching horrors, or a big night out in a costume.

A cozy night in of course!

Have I mentioned I am a homebody?

I don’t even need people there. Just me, myself, and I. Plus my dogs of course, they are always invited.

6. Which has been your favorite costume to date?

I am going way back with this answer, but my absolute favorite costume has been a full-body unicorn costume I had when I was in elementary school. I was so obsessed with unicorns when I was a kid, I had a stuffed one named Darla that I took everywhere with me. Well, this costume looked just like my stuffed toy.

I probably wore that costume for 5 years straight I loved it so much. I wore it until I couldn’t fit in it.

7. Bobbing for apples or pin the hat on the witch?

Neither lol! Jk, if I had to pick one it would be “pin the hat on the witch”. I am not about to inhale water, put my face in something 20 people already had their faces in, and crack a tooth just to get an apple. I will just buy one from the grocery store, thank you very much.

8. How do you celebrate Halloween?

candle, blanket, and laptop

Gosh, I feel like I have already talked about this 5 times in this post, let alone on my entire blog. But I will say it again. I cook a Halloween themed dinner, I eat candy corn, I read spooky books, I watch spooky movies, and I wear my black cat onesie so that I’m festive.

One of the best nights of the year and I have it off from work!

9. What is your least favorite horror movie?

Well, I never really hate horror films for any particular reason. I just have certain ones that don’t scare me enough or I don’t connect with the characters.

So, I will go with the most recent one that I didn’t really enjoy, Malevolent. The movie wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t a favorite either. You can see my full review of this movie here, but I found the characters boring and the story obvious. And I just wasn’t scared enough to forget about everything else wrong with it.

10. Do you have a favorite trick or treat memory?

It isn’t exactly one specific memory but, I just remember going around my neighborhood each year, filling up my little plastic jack-o-lantern so much that it became too heavy for baby me. So then I would have my dad carry it around, or take it back home to empty so I could fill it up even more.

Trick or treating is such a strange tradition, but it was seriously so fun. Except I used to hate having to say trick or treat because I was so shy!

11. What is your favorite thing about Halloween?

The stories. Whether it is in book, TV, film, or spoken format, I love all the ghost stories and fun spooky stories. Especially the fun ones that Disney Channel used to play! Those original films like Halloweentown and Twitches were the best! Check out my list of favorites here!

12. Scary costume or silly costume?

Definitely silly. I may talk a lot about how much I love horror and scary stories, but I hate being actually near the scary stuff. I hate going through haunted walk-throughs and I definitely hate being near people in scary costumes. It just freaks me out, especially if I can’t see who the person is.

So those costumes that are puns are the absolute best. I also love silly couple and group costumes, they can be so creative.

13. If you were to do a trick rather than treat, what would it be?

pumpkin coffee on a white bed with orange leaves

Well whatever it would be, it would have to be a nice trick. Like, SURPRISE, you thought I was giving you two candies but I am giving you THREE! Sike! I am giving you an extra pumpkin spiced latte! Surprise!

I don’t like mean tricks, so it would definitely have to be something like that haha!

I really loved these questions because I felt like I was going back in my memory of Halloween. I got to think of my favorite costume from when I was a kid and times with my dad, trick or treating around the neighborhood. I am certainly feeling nostalgic right now.

Also, these questions were geared more towards Halloween, rather than Autumn, like the other tag, so this was definitely an interesting post to write.

What are you planning on doing this Halloween? I know it will look a little different from previous years for some, but it can still be fun! Let me know in the comments below!
